St. Louis Is For Children

The nationally renown St. Louis Zoo is one of the best in the world for children. Dont confuse it with a petting zoo as it is nothing like that. It is a place where children can meet animals face to face!

While the main zoo is of major and important proportions, the childrens section not only allows the children to get up close but it is a major educational facility. The see through slide in the otter pool, the many exotic birds, reptiles and other animals are within a safe but accessible distance. Zoo workers even bring some animals out for children to touch and to pet. The experience is completely planned for maximum enjoyment as well as education. There exhibit halls that keep children completely with rapt attention, a movie theater, a fantastic cafe and the obligatory place to buy souvenirs and t-shirts for show and tell days at school. Most children are totally fascinated by the enormous butterfly garden especially in spring when butterflies swirl like snow. Parents may not be so fond of insects but kids certainly are in the Monsanto Insectarium. This is one of the most special days or afternoons for a child and the best part is that it is very inexpensive with just a $4 admission charge. If you live in the city, its no wonder you take your children there so often.

This is one example of how zoos can make a positive interaction between children and animals, and the children are able to take away some real knowledge by the experience. apes
